On The Day is an online marketplace that introduces homeowners to eligible builders and home-trade businesses. Homeowners can post a project, receive and compare quotes, sign a project contract and fund one milestone at a time through Stripe. The homeowner and contractor contract directly with each other; On The Day is not the builder, insurer or project manager.

Creating an account, posting a project and submitting a quote are free. A homeowner fee and contractor fee apply only when a project is agreed and paid through On The Day. Both fees are based on labour only and the complete amount is shown before acceptance. See our pricing page.

The launch service and current project documents cover England and Wales. The initial supported market is Nottingham and nearby areas, with wider availability added as the service grows.

Download the app, create an account and choose Find Work. You will confirm whether you are a sole trader or limited company, then add your trade, experience, service area and required business details.

Each milestone is funded through Stripe before that part of the work begins. When the homeowner approves the completed milestone, the contractor amount is released through the contractor's connected Stripe payout account. On The Day does not provide a general savings wallet.

Contractors must provide evidence of at least £1 million public-liability insurance. CSCS evidence is checked only where it is relevant or required. A displayed check records the document reviewed at that time; it is not a recommendation or workmanship guarantee.

Contractors set their own quote. Labour, materials, any separately stated materials-handling charge and VAT status must be shown clearly before the homeowner accepts.

Use the project cancellation flow and contact the other party as early as possible. Cancellation rights, work already supplied, materials and any lawful administration charge are handled under the signed Build Contract and Platform Terms.

Applications can begin after a job is published. Response times depend on the industry, role, location, notice period and worker availability, so On The Day does not guarantee a particular hiring time.

Workers provide role and industry information, and some jobs require supporting documents such as a CSCS card, DBS evidence, licence or insurance. Document status is shown separately. Government-ID verification is planned but is not yet live.

The applicable platform fee depends on whether the work is an employer job or a homeowner project. Current percentages for every party are shown on our pricing page before work is agreed.

Permanent recruitment is not part of the current public service. Employers can complete platform jobs and keep a record of workers they may wish to work with again.

Report the missed attendance against the job and contact support if needed. Payment should not be released as completed work while the attendance issue is being reviewed.

The parties agree individually priced milestones. The homeowner funds only the current milestone through Stripe Pay by Bank. The payment remains awaiting the homeowner's release instruction until the milestone is approved, disputed or refunded under the agreed rules. It is a held payment through Stripe, not a legally defined escrow account.

Home-project milestones use Stripe Pay by Bank at launch. The payment page shows the amount and recipient before the homeowner authorises it. Contractors connect their own payout account securely through Stripe.

Stripe controls payout timing and any identity or bank-account checks. The project record shows when a homeowner has approved release and the current payment status.

Raise the issue against the relevant milestone and provide messages, photographs and a clear written explanation. The payment remains held while the parties try to agree an outcome. On The Day may review evidence for its internal process, but does not replace a court, surveyor or legal adviser.
